Actuary of the future:Tom Williams

Employer and area of work, Aon Hewitt, pensions consulting.

How would your best friend describe you? A bit of a lightweight.

What motivates you? To be the best I can be, and all of the fan mail I am likely to receive after this.

What would be your personal motto? Be yourself because everybody else is taken (I might have stolen that off Mr Wilde).

Name five dream guests you would invite to your dinner party? I was going to say the band 5ive but then found out there are now only four members so I will go with Arsene Wenger, Derren Brown, Barack Obama, Peter Kay and Mila Kunis.

What’s your most ‘actuarial’ habit? For the last World Cup I built a model to try and make money when betting but it turned out to be less successful than Paul the octopus.

If you could learn one random skill, what would you learn? A good first touch would help my faltering football career enormously.

Favourite Excel function? iferror() manages to hide all my mistakes.

How do you relax away from the office? In the day I like to watch the Arsenal strive to end their trophy drought and at night throw some shapes on the dance floor.

Alternative career choice? I have always wanted to be a teacher, something about having a quarter of the year off appeals to me.

Greatest risk you have ever taken? I have done the standard adrenaline sports such as sky diving and bungee jumping, but the questionable kebabs I have eaten after a night out certainly presented a greater risk to my health.

If you could go back in history, who would you like to meet? Crikey, it would have to be Steve Irwin.

What’s your most treasured possession? My ‘Tough Mudder’ sweatband is worn with pride after suffering through a half marathon, electrocution and ice baths to earn it.

What are the top 3 things you would like to achieve in your lifetime? Get my weekends back (ie qualify), learn to play the guitar as well as David Brent, get a tan.

If you ruled the world, what would you change first? Introduce a scheme that would give all young people the opportunity to see different parts of the world.
