As you may have noticed in our 2020-2024 strategy, the digitalisation of our work factors heavily in our vision.

September is the start of a new academic year in many countries, and even for those no longer part of an academic cycle, it is often a time for reflection and setting new goals. It is always healthy, I think, to step back periodically and take stock of how things are going.

Normally, August means a mass exodus out of the office and to a beach, city break or walking holiday.

I look forward to co-creating an exciting future for the profession with you.

I have spent the past few weeks reflecting on my first six months at the IFoA, in part prompted by the presidential cycle, and in part as I have now spent more time leading the IFoA from home than I have in the office!

This month we celebrate 30 years since SIAS, with the support of the IFoA, launched The Actuary to reach the profession’s entire membership.

Each issue of The Actuary brings new highlights, and every time I think: we won’t be able to top that.
