The article on medically underwritten bulk annuities is interesting (The Actuary, August 2015).
I can understand individuals wanting underwritten annuities if their health is poor. Why should the member of a pension scheme volunteer such information to enable the trustees to do a deal? What's in it for them? Clearly it has worked, but I fail to see why.
