CPD: Reflective practice discussions

Open-access content Wednesday 6th October 2021

Following your feedback, we changed our CPD Scheme to make it simpler and more forward-looking in order to support you in carrying out meaningful learning.

The first year of the new CPD Scheme ended recently. We hope you have now had the opportunity to reflect on your learning and development during your reflective practice discussion (RPD – bit.ly/IFoA_RPD).

If you’ve not scheduled your RPD yet, don’t worry – just arrange your discussion with an appropriate person of your choosing as soon as you can. Remember to take along your note of CPD activities to help you with your discussion.

This two-way exchange will give you the opportunity to reflect on your CPD activities, the learning outcomes of those activities, and how you have applied what you learnt. This is also a good time to start your planning for the current, and future, CPD year by discussing how you intend to approach future development and learning, including anticipated other work and roles.

To help with this, we are creating a series of toolkits on different subject areas to assist you in your RPDs. The first in the series is focused on climate change and sustainability (bit.ly/RPD_Climate).

The toolkit encourages you to work through a number of questions to help you assess where you are in terms of your understanding and knowledge about this important topic.

The toolkit also contains relevant resources to help you learn more about different topics within the climate change and sustainability subject area.

If you have any questions or comments on the toolkit, please contact our CPD Feedback Team at [email protected]. We would welcome your feedback to enable us to continue improving and refining our offering to you.

Finally, please look out for an invitation from our team to participate in an RPD with the IFoA. A selection of members will be contacted over the coming months.
