Committee call-out

Open-access content Monday 8th July 2019 — updated 5.50pm, Wednesday 29th April 2020

The Life Board's Lifelong Learning Sub-committee is embracing new technology so that it can better serve a wider range of our educational needs.

The Life Board's Lifelong Learning Sub-committee is embracing new technology so that it can better serve a wider range of our educational needs.

The success of the programme will depend on the committee having the right representation. We are looking for enthusiastic Fellow status actuaries, who are recently qualified or find it challenging to balance their actuarial careers with other demanding commitments, to join the committee.

The committee is responsible for delivering the IFoA's educational events for life practitioners. In the past, the focus has been on formal day and half-day events. While these events work well for senior actuaries, they can present access barriers to other actuaries. Leveraging current technological platforms, the committee is putting in place a programme that better serves a wider range of practitioners. Focus is on those practitioners who need more flexible access to presentations, or those who would like to build up their presentation skills in a less daunting environment and on a smaller scale - thus providing a more graduated step between pre-qualification education and events such as CILA or the chief actuaries and senior actuaries Workshop.

The programme will benefit from the enthusiastic members that we are targeting. Make a difference and join the team today!
