CPD: support for members

Open-access content Wednesday 27th February 2019 — updated 5.50pm, Wednesday 29th April 2020

There may be times in your professional life when personal circumstances, for example ill health, make it hard to prioritise professional obligations such as your CPD requirements or Practising Certificate renewals.

There may be times in your professional life
when personal circumstances, for example ill health, make it hard to prioritise professional obligations such as your CPD requirements or Practising Certificate renewals. If you are struggling to meet these obligations, we would strongly encourage you to contact the Membership Team at the IFoA as early as you can, as there are a number of ways that we can support you.

It is better to seek assistance from us to help manage these obligations at an early stage, rather than risk not fulfilling your professional obligations and exposing yourself to the possibility of disciplinary action as a result. Please don't ignore matters and hope they will go away.

Some examples of support that the Membership Team may be able to provide are assisting you in securing a partial or full exemption from the CPD Scheme, where appropriate, or exercising discretion where deadlines have been missed.

If you think you might require some assistance please contact the Membership Team via [email protected] or call on 0131 240 1325 to explain your situation. All matters will be treated sensitively. You can also see some more practical examples on our website here.
