While most IFoA members will never come into contact with our disciplinary process, it has a fundamental place in our members professional lives.
The enforcement of regulatory obligations is an essential element of the IFoA's regulatory function, assuring the public, employers and regulators that IFoA members maintain the standards of ethics, practice and conduct expected of our profession.
You can find out more about our disciplinary process in the recently reviewed and improved Complaints and Disciplinary process area of the IFoA website. You can also view our three short videos, which give an overview of the scheme, investigations and adjudications and tribunals.
Key statistics around our disciplinary system and a summary of the IFoA Disciplinary Board's work during the past year, along with key focus areas for the next 12 months, are published in the Disciplinary Board's Annual Report.
The report covers the launch of our Capacity for Membership Scheme, which provides an alternative route through our disciplinary system for members suffering significant ill health and additional support for members in situations of ill health.
Future plans outlined in the Disciplinary Board's Annual Report include a plan to undertake a substantive review of disciplinary processes to ensure they remain clear, transparent and fit for purpose. There will be a number of ways you can get involved, so keep an eye out for further communications on this work.
