On 21 June, the Staple Inn Actuarial Society held a chocolate tasting event at the Cocoa Vaults of Hotel Chocolat in Covent Garden.
There was certainly a pre-exam-result buzz among our participants! We tasted eight types of chocolate, ranging from a 100% cocoa bar to a 60% supermilk. We learned how chocolate is made, where it comes from, and how to enjoy it (hint: it does not come from a purple packet!). Finally, we had a tempering demonstration, where one lucky SIAS member learned how to temper chocolate on a marble slab without using a thermometer.
