The IFoA immediate past president Colin Wilson visited China in May and presented Honorary Fellow certificates to professor Zhigang Xie from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) and professor Xiaolin Li from the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE). Both were elected Honorary Fellows in 2017.

As early advocates of the actuarial profession in China, Zhigang Xie and Xiaolin Li have been at the forefront of actuarial teaching and research for more than two decades. They have played key roles in promoting the IFoA and supported the education and training of IFoA actuaries in China.

As a professional body, the IFoA has anointed more than 100 Honorary Fellows since 1957. They are the leaders in their fields of business, academia, government, and other public bodies, both in the UK and internationally.

To date, there are five Honorary Fellows elected in China, including two in Hong Kong.
