Charity hero actuary needed

08 FEBRUARY 2018 | BY THE ACTUARY TEAM

Each year, the Worshipful Company of Actuaries (WCA) rewards an actuary who has made a significant difference to a charity. This may be through fundraising, volunteering or even helping to run a charity.

The award, which is traditionally presented at the WCA Installation dinner (12 July 2018), is known as the Phiatus Award. Phiatus was a dining club set up originally by actuaries whose career was interrupted by World War II (Phiatus being a loose mix of FIA and Hiatus) and when the club wound up, the remaining monies were passed to the Company and are now used to fund this annual award.

If you know of an actuary who you believe would be deserving of this year’s award, then please send their details to: [email protected]
