If you are a fully retired member, not in paid work that relies upon your actuarial training or IFoA membership, and do not expect to return to such work, you may be eligible to register as retired and be classified as a category 7 member.
As a category 7 retired member, you will not be required to complete continuing professional development (CPD) unless you undertake unpaid work that relies on your actuarial training and experience, in the widest interpretation. If you do, you should complete appropriate CPD to ensure that you have the relevant skills and knowledge to undertake this work, in line with the Actuaries' Code.
In general, members who hold senior roles, such as a trustee or a non-executive director, are not normally granted retired status.
