Quattro does three peaks

Open-access content Monday 7th August 2017 — updated 5.50pm, Wednesday 29th April 2020

Quattro Pensions (based in Redditch) have supported a team of 11 to complete the Three Peaks Challenge.

Quattro Pensions (based in Redditch) have supported a team of 11 to complete the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales. This involved climbing over 10,000 feet and walking almost 26 miles. With very little climbing experience, a mix of fitness levels and ages ranging from 22 to over 50, the lack of sleep and physical exhaustion made it a tough test of endurance.

On the afternoon of Friday 23 June the challenge began at the foot of Ben Nevis in Scotland. The Scafell Pike ascent in the Lake District commenced at dawn on Saturday 24 June. The final gruelling test on the afternoon of Saturday 24 June was climbing Mount Snowdon in Wales. This was a massive physical and mental challenge but it pales into insignificance when compared to the battles that are being fought by friends and family that have particularly affected some of Quattro's employees this year.

A massive thank you to all that have supported Quattro and the team so far. If you would like to donate, Quattro's fundraising page can be found at uk.virginmoneygiving.com/quattro-pensions and all employees will continue fundraising over the rest of the year. Donations will help fund research for Breast Cancer, Parkinson's Disease and Motor Neurone Disease.

Erratic expectations

I was interested to learn from Alex Waite’s July article (bit.ly/AnimalSpiritsAW) there is an Economic Modelling Group aiming at improving forecasting of economic outcomes. I wish this the best of luck, but would not be surprised if the results prove inconclusive. Honorary fellows are eminent individuals in business, academia and government.
