Employer and area of work

Mitchell Consulting and 2020 Trustees, pensions

How would your best friend describe you?

Creative, yet logical

What motivates you?

Making sure nobody underestimates me

What would be your personal motto?

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results

Name five dream companions to be stuck on a desert island with?

Brian Cox, James Horner, Tom Hanks, Sarah Millican and George Takei

What's your most 'actuarial' habit?

Ensuring I walk the most efficient route from A to B, even if it means walking in mud (and referring to variables as letters)

Favourite Excel function?

FuzzyMatch - a custom function I stumbled upon when trying to reconcile two terrible cuts of data. It gives a % score of how well two data items 'match'

How do you relax away from the office?

I make handmade greetings cards - my conservatory looks like some sort of craft explosion has occurred

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?

While on a beginner's scuba-diving course in the Mediterranean, I drifted a worrying distance from the instructor, as the weights on my suit weren't sufficient. Apparently I'm more "floaty" than most people

Alternative career choice?

Defence against the dark arts teacher

What song best describes your work ethic?

Adventure of a Lifetime - Coldplay

Greatest risk you have ever taken?

Trying raw seafood mere weeks before actuarial exams

If you could go back in history, who would you like to meet?

Leonardo da Vinci - I reckon he could talk at length about anything, without being boring or making stuff up

If there was a movie produced about your life, who would play you, and why?

Emma Stone, so that my movie wins Best Picture for 30 seconds

If you could be anyone else, who would it be?

Diane Lockhart - okay, she's not a real person, but I admire her elegant ambition and intellect
