The qualification aims to help actuaries demonstrate a better understanding of enterprise risk management (ERM) techniques.

Robertson graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2011 with a first class master’s degree in mathematics and statistics.

She is currently a senior actuarial analyst at Lloyds Banking Group in Edinburgh, where she started her career following graduation.

Robertson has worked in various teams within the company covering with profits, data and reinsurance, corporate pensions forecasting and most recently actuarial rectifications.

“The actuarial profession and the environment in which we work is changing,” she said. “As a modern and up-to-date qualification, CERA gives me a good base to deal with those future challenges.”

She argued the qualification would open “a lot of doors” for her, particularly in terms of career flexibility.

“There are a lot more options of areas to work in, from the traditional actuarial areas to new and exciting opportunities elsewhere,” Roberson added.

Ron Hersmis, chairman of the CERA Global Association, said: “Pamela and the other CERAs across the globe add value to enterprise risk management through their rigorous training, making them the best equipped to provide a 360° view of an organisation’s risk profile.”

According to Hersmis, the qualification helps in assessing and managing “the entire risk spectrum” of an organisation, including financial, operational and strategic risks.

He said: “There is a global demand for skilled enterprise risk management professionals. CERA is one of the most comprehensive and rigorous enterprise risk management qualifications available.”
