Stephen Crabb was appointed as the new secretary of state at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) over the weekend.
He replaces Iain Duncan Smith, who resigned on Friday over disagreements with the disability cuts announced in the budget.
Crabb was previously the secretary of state for Wales. Prior to this, he was a government whip and a junior minister for Wales. Crabb was elected as the MP for Preseli Pembrokeshire in 2005.
He is succeeded by Alun Cairns as the Welsh secretary.
In his first speech at the House of Commons since his new appointment, Crabb confirmed there would be no further plans for welfare cuts.
