Nobel Prize winner to speak at IFoA Asia Conference, Beijing

Open-access content Tuesday 5th May 2015 — updated 9.20pm, Thursday 2nd April 2020

The IFoA is proud to host its inaugural Asia Conference in Beijing on 13-15 May. This milestone cross-practice conference is open to all actuaries, stakeholders, students and those with a general interest in actuarial science.

The conference programme offers an unrivalled line-up of speakers, with Myron Scholes, winner of the Nobel memorial prize 1997, taking centre stage as keynote speaker. Dr Yulong Zhao, deputy director-general of the Finance and Solvency Regulation Department of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, Wei Wang, chairman of China Mergers & Acquisitions Association (CMAA), and Dr David Hare, immediate past-president of the IFoA, will all provide us with their opinions and in-depth experiences of the actuarial world.

Discuss C-ROSS, why risk is good for you, global pension reforms, key requirements of preparing for International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) Phase 2 and more. Get an overview of personal injury litigation in Asia, how insurance companies in these regions can react to these developments and the opportunities and risks facing health insurers in China. The invaluable networking opportunities will enable you to develop key business relationships with opinion leaders, new clients and potential partners.

On 15 May, a student networking afternoon will take place, dedicated to our actuaries of the future and providing you with a platform to showcase your company benefits to the next generation of influencers and decision-makers.

It is an exhilarating time for the IFoA and we invite you to share this experience with us. Bookings are now open here. Gain professional skills, continuing professional development and be part of this exclusive event. We look forward to seeing you in Beijing. For sponsorship opportunities, email [email protected]
