Towers Watson adds three life specialists to UK risk team

Open-access content 5th March 2012

Towers Watson has announced the appointment of three senior life insurance specialists to its UK risk consulting business.

Making the announcement today, the company said Tim Bateman, who qualified as an actuary in 1989, would bring a 'wealth of experience' to the life insurance sector having held a number of senior industry positions - most recently at Equitable Life.

He will be based in London and will take a lead role advising clients on a broad range of financial management issues, including the strategic development of with-profits funds.

Peter Murphy, who qualified as an actuary in 2007, has joined the Towers Watson team in Manchester. Mr Murphy, who was previously with Lloyds Banking Group, will focus on capital management and advising clients working with Towers Watson's Risk Agility EC capital aggregation software.

The third appointee, Miles Stanhope, qualified as an actuary in 1992 and is a financial modelling specialist. He had joined from PricewaterhouseCooper to support the expansion of Towers Watson's modelling community and the development of its financial modelling capabilities for clients.

Towers Watson's UK life insurance director, Chris Fordham, said: 'We are delighted to welcome these three outstanding additions to our UK risk consulting practice after a number of other recent senior hires in both the UK and the wider European region.'
