Mercer acquires Norwegian consulting firm

Open-access content 29th February 2012

Mercer has completed the acquisition of Norwegian-based financial investment and pension consulting company Pensjon & Finans.

According to Mercer, the acquisition, which was made for undisclosed sum, will strengthen its position as a leader in provision of pensions and investment advice in the Nordics.

It will also give Pensjon & Finans' clients access to Mercer's 'broad range of services and global capabilities', it added.

Pensjon & Finans was established in 1997 and has a 'solid' share of the Norwegian institutional pension market in both the public and private sector. The company's chief executive, Espen Kløw, will now become head of Mercer investment consulting in Norway.

Nicolai Berg, head of Mercer's Nordic investments business, said his company was expanding its business at a time when clients were demanding greater resources and depth of expertise from their consultants.

'Pensjon & Finans has an excellent reputation and strong relationships with its clients in the Norwegian market. The combination of the two firms allows us to provide even more services for our clients and greater opportunities for our employees,' he added.
