Virtual Learning Environment relaunches

Open-access content Wednesday 5th October 2022

The IFoA’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) has relaunched, having taken your feedback into consideration. It now enables you to search, rank and return to video learning, and to better keep pace with the profession’s demands.

The VLE has long been the IFoA’s repository for event videos, and the main means by which members complete their continuing professional development (CPD). It hosts more than 1,000 items of learning.

The rebuilt version offers an improved user experience, with re-categorised content, user ratings, and dashboards for tracking your progress and reviewing your achievements. This makes it easier to find items and complete your learning.

The VLE will also increasingly be powering sophisticated e-learning such as the Climate and Sustainability Course, as well as live learning opportunities.

“The IFoA’s CPD scheme was redesigned a little over two years ago to help members to learn in a way that addresses the specific needs of their own careers,” says IFoA chief operating officer Anne Moore. “The VLE needed to change to support that goal better.”

She continues: “We have hundreds of members logging onto the VLE every day – from first-year students to the most experienced Fellow. It’s at the core of what we offer as a professional body. We are acting on what you are telling us by improving this platform to provide you with better access to learning that gives you an advantage.”

Respondents to our 2021 member survey rated ‘Delivering actuarial education and lifelong learning to keep pace with business needs’ as the IFoA’s top-ranked role.

Please log on to your actuaries.org.uk account and click on 'My learning environment' to explore the new VLE.
