Matt Saker confirmed as next president-elect

Open-access content Wednesday 7th April 2021

The IFoA is delighted to announce that Matt Saker has been confirmed as the next president-elect.

Matt

He will assume this role in June 2021, as Dr Louise Pryor becomes president. Matt will serve as IFoA president from June 2022.

Matt has 30 years’ experience as an actuary in the life and general insurance industry. After 18 years as a consultant, Matt joined Aviva in 2009 and is currently group chief actuary, with responsibility for all aspects of the group’s actuarial methodology in respect of life and general insurance. He is currently leading the development of data science within his actuarial team and the embedding of climate risk within Aviva’s risk management framework.

Matt plays an active role in the UK profession and was elected to Council in 2016 before joining the Regulation Board in 2018. More recently, he has been closely involved in the profession’s response to climate change.

“I am delighted for the support shown by my fellow Council members in choosing me as their next president-elect,” he said. “I am really excited by the prospect of joining the presidential team and I can’t wait to get started on the tasks of connecting with our members and driving forward the implementation of the IFoA’s strategy.”
