Towers Watson - retirement solutions

How would your best friend describe you?
An intelligent, nice nutter - but a nutter all the same.

What motivates you?
Explaining and teaching. I love being able to communicate solutions to complicated issues. Light-bulb moments are what I thrive on.

What would be your personal motto?
"Smile - God didn't make you to frown."

Who do you most admire and why?
Anyone who's ever migrated to another country. It's such a brave decision to make.

What's your most 'actuarial' habit?
Obsessively measuring ingredients out to the last gram when cooking and baking. I can't see anyone in any other profession taking that kind of approach.

How do you relax away from the office?
With music - preferably something weird and wonderful! I particularly love concept albums, rock operas, that kind of thing.

Alternative career choice?
Youth worker. I've worked with young people in various roles for the past 10 years and found it immensely rewarding.

Tell us something unusual about yourself
I once opened Legoland Windsor.

Greatest risk you have ever taken?
Actuaries don't take risks! Although taking my gap year at the beginning of the downturn, with very limited savings and no job lined up, was potentially a bit risky.

What's your most treasured possession?
My computer - I built it myself three years ago after my internship, and I've been tinkering with it ever since.

If you ruled the world, what would you change first?

I would abolish smoking altogether.
