SIAS tenpin bowling

The first SIAS social event of 2006 was the ten-pin bowling, which took place on Thursday 26 January. Seventeen teams of three headed out to Surrey Quays to battle for the championship title. Each team got two games of bowling, with prizes being awarded for the highest- and lowest-scoring teams and also for highest and lowest individual scores over both games. There was also a prize for the best team name, which went to ‘Bowler Soup’ – Jenny Gardner, Edward Hoyle, and Glanda Ashison. Jenny also took home the prize for lowest individual score but didn’t seem quite as happy with her performance as the overall lowest-scoring team of Richard Ablett, Richard Skipsey, and Alan Hall (BGI) who were delighted with their ‘achievement’ and their trophy!

The winner’s trophy went to ‘The Headless Turkeys’ – Simon Spencer, John Carter, and Mark Paxton of Barnett Waddingham, and the individual highest score prize went to Chris Mitcheson of LCP. A buffet was provided after the bowling had finished and a few teams made the most of the night by sticking around for a drink or two with some teams even getting in a bit of extra bowling practice. The photos of the event will be on the SIAS website shortly.
