Punter Southall actuary claims City race hat-trick

This year’s triumph saw Ms Wicks cross the finishing line in 16 minutes and 50 seconds, a whole minute ahead of her nearest rival and 13 seconds quicker than the previous year.

"The race is my favourite event of the year: it’s always got a great crowd and atmosphere," she said. "I’m delighted to have won my third title here and definitely looking forward to coming back again next year to try for a fourth!"

The charitable 5km race across the City of London, now in its seventh year, attracted entries from over 400 companies and 5000 individuals.

Funds raised from the event are to be donated to Seeing is Believing, a global initiative that tackles avoidable blindness.
