On accountants

A cautionary tale for anyone tempted to air the tired old story about taking the actuarial exams as a refuge from the unbearable excitement of accountancy. I did this a few months ago at a club that required new members to describe their professions – it was in deepest Wiltshire, after all. I am now known in the club as ‘the failed accountant’.
