Maths competition

The Careers Committee currently sponsors the Scottish Mathematical Council and its promotion of mathematics in schools throughout Scotland. The best Scottish school student mathematicians competed in the finals of the Enterprising Maths Competition on 25 November 2005. The University of Strathclyde was the venue for 250 pupils and 70 teachers from the 66 Scottish schools to qualify for the final round. After a day of complex mathematical challenges, Lenzie Academy won the competition and Harvie Brown, Faculty president, presented the winners’ trophy to them.

The Actuarial Profession will continue to sponsor this event and other initiatives throughout the UK in 2006. If you would like to get involved with a careers event, please contact the careers team, email careers@actuaries.org.uk.
