Heriot-Watt professor wins best paper award

Professor Andrew Cairns has won an award for best paper in North American Actuarial Journal.

Professor Cairns, department of Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics at Heriot-Watt University, has, with his co-authors David Blake, Kevin Dowd, Guy D. Coughlan, David Epstein, Alen Ong and Igor Balevich, won the best paper prize for ‘A Quantitative Comparison of Stochastic Mortality Models Using Data from England and Wales and the United States’ in North American Actuarial Journal in 2009.
