Brand to step down as MD of Hannover Life Re

Mr Brand will be replaced by Stuart Hill who is currently on secondment from Hannover Life Re (UK) as managing director of Hannover Life Re Africa.

Mr Brand has been at the company since 1988 and has held his current role since the beginning of 2003, during which time he has grown the business and helped to establish the firm's position in the UK life reinsurance marketplace.

Outside of Hannover Life Re, where he has worked for over 20 years, Mr Brand has been involved in committee work within the industry and voluntary work for the actuarial profession. He is a former member of the Council of the Institute of Actuaries and former chair of the Actuarial Profession's board of examiners.

"I have had a fantastic career at Hannover Life Re and I am honoured to have led the UK company as it has established itself as an innovative and client focused organisation in the UK market," he said.

"I will be leaving the business in a robust position of financial strength and I am confident the team will continue to provide outstanding support and service to our clients and build on its success into the future."

Mr Hill added: "I am delighted to be given the opportunity to succeed David as managing director of Hannover Life Re (UK). David has been instrumental in developing the company and its position as a leading reinsurer within the UK market. I am excited by the prospects for the company in the future and look forward to building on the successes achieved to date."

Klaus Miller, executive board member of Hannover Re and chairman of Hannover Life Re (UK), commented: "I would like to thank David for his exceptional contribution, loyalty and achievement with the Hannover Re Group and I look forward to Stuart returning to continue the success of Hannover Life Re (UK)."
