Partying on the Thames

Over 200 SIAS members and guests partied much of the evening of 31 July away at this year’s summer event. Organiser Trevor Fannin and his team did a super job of ensuring that supplies of Pimms, of other favourite tipples, and of food were (just) adequate to satisfy the appetites of the revellers through the four-hour journey of the Golden Jubilee from the Embankment to the Thames Barrier and back.

Had your news editor (pictured below) not been present, the average age of the company would surely have been no more than 25. Romance was very much in the air as night fell, and the tiny dance floor saw some impressive performances unaided by the motion of the boat. After landing again at Embankment, most of these energetic young actuaries seemed very determined to party on well into the August morning!
