Dog bites in the US

Liability claims for dog bites in the US increased by over 10% in 2007 to US$356.2m. Whilst the number of claims remained fairly constant, the average cost per claim increased by over 11%. Perhaps surprisingly, given the common view of the litigiousness of the US populace, only 14,500 claims are made each year although over 800,000 people require medical attention for injuries from dog bites.
