Council elections

I noted with interest Simon Jagger’s letter dated 5 June concerning the Institute Council elections and in particular the voting process. As chair of the profession’s Internal Relations Committee, may I confirm that the committee has, as a major part of its plan for the 2003/2004 session, a remit to review the voting process in Council elections, including the nature of constituencies and representation by minority groups, in the longer term. We will be drawing up proposals on which the membership will be consulted in the first half of 2004. Progress will be reported in The Actuary and on the website.

The process will be managed by Elaine Fairless, and I am sure she would be glad of any comments or suggestions from members. She can be contacted at elaine@ed-financial.co.uk.
