New financial services academy

Orpington College has launched a financial services academy to train future financial wizards.

Orpington College’s half-a-million-pound Banking, Insurance and Financial Services Academy is kitted out with eco-friendly flat-screen computers, interactive smartboards which stream video and TV to all of the four classrooms simultaneously. The suite is a great learning environment for young people and others either working in the sector or planning to do so.

Simon Norton, principal ,said: ‘This is a fantastic facility for budding financial employees. The staff all have relevant industry experience and the equipment is state of the art. The academy is going to give students excellent preparation for jobs in the City and beyond.’To keep guests entertained at the launch, a stockbroking game tested participants’ skills in the cut-and-thrust world of money markets. Students who are on the financial programmes acted as brokers to trade shares.
