We are committed to carrying out our regulatory role in a way that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and are consulting on how we can more clearly incorporate DEI into our regulatory framework (see page 10).
This is part of our work to ensure the standards we set support a more equitable profession, as set out in our DEI strategy (bit.ly/IFoA_DEI_strat).
With regulators taking steps to formalise DEI considerations in their work, we are asking for your views on proposals to formalise our DEI commitment in our own regulatory framework.
DEI and the Actuaries’ Code
We seek your feedback on proposed changes to the Actuaries’ Code, the ethical Code of Conduct that IFoA members must adhere to. While it is already consistent with DEI values, we are asking for your views on proposed changes to its ‘Speaking up’ and ‘Integrity’ principles so that it more directly reflects our DEI commitment.
We would also like to hear your views on the development of guidance in this area and whether this should be introduced in addition, or as an alternative, to the proposed changes to the Code.
Find out more about the proposed changes on our consultation FAQ page (bit.ly/Consult_DEI_QA). We will also be hosting Q&A webinars on 6 February and 29 March.
Read the consultation document and submit your views at bit.ly/IFoA_Current Consult. The consultation closes on 15 April 2023.
Consultation on minor amendments to the Code
We are consulting on an amendment to the Actuaries’ Code that re-states members’ duty to disclose convictions and findings against them to the IFoA. We need to hear from you to ensure the wording maintains a clear and actionable requirement for all members, regardless of practice area or global region.
