Council election results

Open-access content Wednesday 6th July 2022

The results of the election to the IFoA Council were announced at the IFoA’s Annual General Meeting on 15 June.

In addition to Dr Yan Liu, who was elected unopposed as a member of Council’s Scottish constituency, the following seven General constituency candidates were elected:  

  • Oliver Bettis  
  • Kudzai Chigiji  
  • Dan Georgescu  
  • Jennifer Hartley  
  • Matthew Pearlman  
  • Hilary Salt  
  • Cynthia Yuan

Congratulations to those members who have been elected. On behalf of the IFoA, and in particular our Council, we thank all candidates for standing for election. We are grateful that you were prepared to dedicate your time to make a difference to the future of the IFoA and the profession more broadly.

On 31 May, the UK government released its response (bit.ly/3MypwHV) to the consultation on the 2021 white paper Restoring trust in audit and corporate governance (bit.ly/3MApsaJ), which set out proposals for actuarial regulation.

Actuarial Profession Standard Z1: have your say

The IFoA is consulting on proposals to introduce a revised Actuarial Profession Standard (APS) Z1 on ‘Duties and responsibilities of members undertaking work in relation to UK trust-based pre-paid funeral plans’. APS Z1 sets out specific ethical and professional obligations that apply, in addition to the Actuaries’ Code, for members providing advice relating to funeral plan trusts.
