Seeking nominations for research paper prizes

Open-access content Thursday 5th August 2021 — updated 3.48pm, Tuesday 10th August 2021

Each year, the IFoA seeks to recognise excellence in actuarial research by awarding prizes for exceptional research papers.

We are currently seeking nominations for two prizes that are funded by the IFoA Foundation:

  • The Peter Clark Prize (best paper written by members of the profession intended for an actuarial audience)

  • The Geoffrey Heywood Prize (paper demonstrating excellent levels of communication and engagement with a general actuarial audience)

Last year’s winning papers (bit.ly/IFoA_PrizePapers) looked at sensitivity testing of simulation models, and AI ‘deep learning’ for mortality modelling and forecasting.

There is no requirement for the authors, or those nominating, to be IFoA members, and the prizes are open to the actuarial community around the world. Papers must have been first presented no earlier than 31 May 2020, or first published in final form with a publication date in 2020. The closing date for nomination is 22 August 2021.

For full details and eligibility criteria and to nominate (via the online form) an outstanding paper you think deserves recognition, visit the Best Paper Prizes page at bit.ly/3elrHQM
