In February, we were delighted to sponsor prizes and present to some of Scotland’s young actuarial science students at the 2020 Actuarial Conference at Heriot-Watt University.
The theme this year was Bridging the Actuarial Gap, focusing on the future of the profession, the importance of crafting the skills needed to tackle the challenges it faces, and the impact of data-driven innovations on health and life insurance products.
Thank you to Clifford Friend, the IFoA’s director of engagement and learning, for taking part in the event and showcasing how students can keep their skills up to date in order to meet the profession’s future demands. We were also joined by Chris Green, who presented prizes on behalf of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries to students who had demonstrated outstanding achievement in the second year of Heriot-Watts’ BSc Actuarial Science programme.
There were also presentations by Scottish Widows and by Professor Angus Macdonald, on behalf of Heriot-Watt’s Society of Actuaries ‘Centre of Actuarial Excellence’. Thank you to the Heriot-Watt Students’ Actuarial Society for inviting us to attend and organising an outstanding event.
