  • 4.4-Capella Noteable effort made in Pitch BattleThis summer, BBC One launched a brand- new show to see some of the best choirs in the UK do battle to be crowned Pitch Battle champions. My a cappella group, 'The Noteables', were delighted to be selected as one of the 30 choirs to take part and we had to work hard to impress the judges Gareth Malone, Kelis and Chaka Khan. 12 October 2017

  • Obituary: John Martin CBE BSc FIA ASA FSS FPMIPast Institute of Actuaries president (Leonard) John Martin died in July 2017, aged 88. John began his actuarial career after leaving school. In 1952 he joined R Watson and Sons, where he enjoyed a successful career as a consulting actuary, concluding as senior partner in 1993. 12 October 2017
