The Worshipful Company of Actuaries held its fourth annual ten-pin bowling event at the All Star Lanes in Holborn,
London, on 15 March, with a maximum eight teams competing for the trophy including, for the first time, sides from Aon Hewitt, GAD and Towers Watson.
The average score of the 24 players was 108, a fraction down on the previous best of 109. Top individual scorers were
Bill Harris (157), Mark Paxton (154) and Carl Moxley (152), none of whom were in the winning team.
That honour went to Swiss Re’s ‘Size 16 Balls – Bigger and Rounder’, which lifted the trophy for the first time with Amit Patel, Ian Boyd and Joe Paul scoring a combined 392.
They edged out the previous year’s winners, Barnett Waddingham’s ‘More Strikes than the London Underground’, represented by Mark Paxton, Matt Gold and Richard Gibson, on 372.
The Master of the Worshipful Company, John Lockyer, presented the trophy and thanked everyone for taking part. Canapés were enjoyed over a drink or two following all the exertion.
This popular annual tournament, open to all members of the actuarial profession, was organised by the Worshipful Company's social events committee.
