Towers Watson adds duo to private markets team in Asia

Towers Watson has appointed Agnes Lee and Richard Tan to its private markets manager research team in Hong Kong.

The firm employs around 40 people responsible for advising clients on managing private equity, real estate, infrastructure or holistic private markets portfolios, with assets under advice of around $60bn.

Ms Lee was an investment director at Navis Capital Partners, a growth-oriented buyout firm focusing on South and Southeast Asia. She graduated in actuarial and management science and is a CFA charterholder.

Mr Tan joins from Squadron Capital, a private equity fund of funds manager in Hong Kong, where he was an investment director. He graduated in accounting, has an MBA and is also a CPA in Australia.

Craig Baker, global head of research at Towers Watson Investment (pictured), said: "Agnes and Richard bring a wealth of private markets experience, including direct and fund investing in private equity and real estate in Asia.

"This is an exciting part of our business which we aim to continue building and to reinforce our market position as providers of unbiased investment advice."

The firm says that the strengthening of private markets research resources in Asia refelect increased demand from Asian clients for global private markets opportunities and from global clients for investment opportunities in Asia.

The appointments follow the recent addition of Peter Lewis to Towers Watson's private markets team in the US and Zaka Mir who has joined the private markets team in London as an analyst.
