Things fall apart

Less than 12 months ago, I paid the not insignificant sum of £12 to purchase a copy of ‘FRS17 – Retirement Benefits’ from the Accounting Standards Board.

Having found it generally objectionable that such an accounting standard was not freely available on the Web – all actuarial guidance notes are, after all, publicly available, free of charge – I now find that the binding on my copy of FRS17 has fallen apart and I have had to resort to holding together the pages with a couple of treasury tags in a most Heath Robinsonesque fashion.

Am I alone in suffering this fate, or are there pensions actuaries up and down the country struggling to complete their clients’ pension disclosures thanks to some critical missing page in their copies of FRS17
