Profession sees surge in exam entries

Entries for the April exams closed on 23 March and the total number of subject entries was 11 818, compared with 10 421 for the previous year — an increase of 13.4%. The CT entries have been particularly high, which reflects an increase in the number of new students registering during the past year. Of the 7250 students registering to sit the exams, just under 4000 (54%) chose to do this online.

The pilot project to offer CT1 (Financial Mathematics) to a range of people has resulted in 72 candidates applying to sit the exam. The exam has been developed to enable non-actuaries to develop their knowledge and understanding of actuarial practice. The Profession’s exams team is focused on ensuring the number of assistant examiners is sufficient for the volume of papers and on establishing around 120 exam centres in some 80 countries.
