Meanwhile, in Greece…

The UK’s International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) squad, which is sponsored by the actuarial profession, recently returned from the 45th Olympiad in Greece with a fine medal haul. Competing against 500 competitors from 84 other nations, the team won one gold, one silver, and four bronzes at the world’s most prestigious competition for pre-university maths students. The team are: Giles Coope (bronze), David Fidler (silver), Paul Jefferys (gold), Martin Orr (bronze), Alexander Shannon (bronze), Anne Marie Shepherd (bronze).
