FERMA names next president and VP

Michel Dennery, deputy chief risk officer, GDF SUEZ, has been elected FERMA vice president - the role currently occupied by Mr Luzzi - with a two year mandate until June 2013.

Julia Graham will also continue as a vice president of FERMA until June 2012.

Mr Luzzi, whose mandate as president will start at the end of the FERMA Forum on 5 October 2011 and continue until the end of the Forum 2013, succeeds Peter den Dekker who will preside over the 2011 FERMA Forum in Stockholm from 2 - 5 October.

Commenting on the appointments, Mr den Dekker said: "I am delighted to be handing over to Jorge who has already done a great deal to raise FERMA's standing on the international stage."

He continued: "Michel Dennery is strengthening FERMA's role as a voice for the European risk management community, especially with his work for FERMA on corporate governance and risk issues, and I welcome his election as FERMA vice president."

Speaking on his appointment, Mr Luzzi said: "I am delighted to be able to take forward the work of FERMA, which now represents the interests of risk managers in 19 countries with our new members from Malta and Slovenia. I would like to pay tribute to the work of Peter den Dekker who has played such as important role in increasing FERMA's stature and profile in his two years as president.

The current President of the International Federation of Risk and Insurance Management Associations (IFRIMA), Carl Leeman, congratulated Luzzi on his election: "We are delighted and proud of the election of Jorge who is a very active and respected risk manager within our community. As an ‘association of associations', IFRIMA's primary objective is to provide a forum for interaction and communications among risk management associations and their members. This nomination will reinforce the links of IFRIMA with its members on the European stage."
