Peter NS Clark – president, Institute of Actuaries, 2000–2002

It is with great sadness that Institute Council reports the death of Peter Clark. Peter died suddenly on Sunday 11 June 2006, aged 59. He qualified as a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1971. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife, Lynda, and their family. As well as his very significant contribution to the UK actuarial profession, Peter played a major international actuarial role over many years. He represented the UK at the highest levels in both the Groupe Consultatif and the IAA, where he was due to become president for 2007, and he was active in promoting the development of the actuarial profession in Africa. Peter will be greatly missed both in the UK and throughout the actuarial world. A full obituary will appear in the August issue of The Actuary.
