New face in communications

Freya Rodger has been appointed head of communications. Based at Staple Inn, she will lead on all communication issues for the profession – raising the organisation’s profile, developing media and other relationships, and ensuring actuaries and staff are kept informed of strategic and operational change.

‘This is an exciting time to join the profession’, she said. ‘The impact of the Morris Review and the emerging roles of the independent Board for Actuarial Standards and the Professional Oversight Board under the FRC, together with our own strategy review implementation programme, present us with some communication challenges, and some real opportunities. We all have a part to play in communicating the changes to wider audiences.’

Freya previously worked as head of communications for the National Farmers’ Union, where her achievements included the redevelopment of the website, managing organisational change, and the crisis management of high-profile issues such as avian influenza and badger culls.
