Is all publicity good publicity?

The new ITV police drama ‘Murder City’ on 18 March had an actuary as a key suspect, with lines like ‘What actually is an actuary?’ ‘We are trained mathematicians. We predict the future by using models.’

The point was a murder, in a building with lots of security cameras, and the murderer got into the room without being seen. It was the actuary, who just wanted to show that he could model the camera movements, etc and work out a pattern of movements to get in and out without ever showing up on any of them.

Meanwhile, on the big screen, one of the top-grossing films in Britain in March, Along Came Polly, stars Ben Stiller as a (supposedly) risk-averse actuary.
