CPD

Recording your category and CPD hours

The current CPD year ends on 30 June 2007 and all members (with the exception of practising certificate holders) must have made a declaration by this date. In addition, all those recorded as either a category 2 or category 3 actuary must have completed their record of CPD hours undertaken. For category 2s this is a minimum of 15 hours and for category 3s the hours are self-determined.

The four CPD categories are:

  • Category 1 Those with UK statutory practising certificates
  • Category 2 Those working in one of the areas covered by the specialist application syllabuses but who do not hold a UK statutory practising certificate
  • Category 3 Those working outside categories 1 and 2
  • Category 4 Those who are not in work

For instructions on how to make a declaration or enter a CPD event on your record, please refer to the CPD section of the profession’s website at: www.actuaries.org.uk/Display_Page.cgi?url=/cpd/cpd_scheme.xml

If you are experiencing difficulties in making a declaration or in recording your CPD hours, please let us know by sending an email to cpd_feedback@actuaries.org.uk.

Online provision of CPD

A reminder to all members that it is possible for you to gain CPD hours by downloading sessions or complete seminars from www.mentor-uk.com. The Actuarial Profession is using Mentor to record a number of events throughout the year to assist those who are unable to attend events to gain CPD hours via the internet. If, owing to time pressure or location you were unable to attend an event you could have benefited from, check the Mentor website to see whether it was filmed. For a trial period these events will provide you with verifiable CPD hours.
