Appointments and people moves

PartnerRe has appointed Kevin O’Regan as head of the longevity market unit for PartnerRe Global Life Operations (non-US). Mr O’Regan will be in charge of managing and growing the PartnerRe longevity portfolio and further developing longevity activities within PartnerRe Global Life Operations. Mr O’Regan was previously head of business development for UK and Ireland at XL Re Life. Prior to that, he held the position of director of life reinsurance at AON Re Global.

Punter Southall Group announced the appointment of Simon Banks as a principal in the corporate pension consulting business. Mr Banks previously worked for Hewitt and KPMG.

Lane Clark & Peacock has promoted Adam Michaels, Nick Clark and Phil Cuddeford to partner. Mr Michaels joined LCP in 2004 and is a member of LCP’s investment consulting team. He advises a range of companies on pension scheme investment strategies. Mr Clark joined LCP in 2005. He specialises in delivering advice to UK and international companies and trustees on the future of their defined benefit pension schemes. Mr Cuddeford is a member of LCP’s international consulting practice. He specialises in Italian employee benefit issues and advises clients on risk appraisal.

Legal & General Investment Management has announced the appointment of Hugh Cutler as head of distribution. Mr Cutler will have responsibility for developing LGIM’s new business strategy both in the UK and overseas. He joins LGIM from Barclays Global Investors where he was co-head of the Global Strategic Solutions Group. Prior to this Mr Cutler worked with Towers Perrin as an actuarial associate where he advised pension schemes and companies on all aspects of pensions.

Nancy Stockmeyer has joined the Ernst & Young pensions advisory team as a senior manager. Ms Stockmeyer, who moved across from Pricewaterhouse- Coopers, is a qualified actuary and will be responsible for providing Ernst & Young’s clients with benefits advice, assisting in audits and in international merger and acquisition activity. Ms Stockmeyer has worked in the UK and the US during her career.

Paul Mylet has been appointed group actuarial director for Aviva Group Centre. Previously, Mr Mylet was running Aviva’s MCEV implementation project.

Hymans Robertson has appointed Barry Mack to the new position of head of governance and plan management. Mr Mack will be responsible for developing and promoting the firm’s governance and plan management services. Mr Mack joins Hymans Robertson from Mercer, where he held a variety of roles including head of the governance and operations unit and, most recently, head of pan- European pensions.

RGA Reinsurance UK Limited has announced the appointment of David Gulland as assistant general manager. Mr Gulland previously worked for Deloitte where he was an associate partner.

The Financial Reporting Council has announced the appointments of Bill Souster as GI project director, Deniz Sumengen as life project director and Faye Dyce as pensions project manager at the Board for Actuarial Standards (BAS). They will be working on the programme of transition from the guidance notes adopted in 2006 to the new technical actuarial standards issued by BAS.
