Alison Murray returns to Hymans Robertson fold in public sector role

Hymans Robertson has announced the appointment of Alison Murray as head of policy and technical development. Ms Murray returns to the firm after a brief spell with the Government Actuary’s Department.

A partner and actuary, Ms Murray has worked in pensions for 15 years and has been advising exclusively on public sector pensions for over eight years. She has considerable experience presenting at LGPS conferences and seminars and will be working closely with John Wright, head of public sector pensions, to develop briefing material and support services for LGPS clients.

The firm has also appointed Linda Selman as head of public sector investments. Ms Selman has over 25 years’ industry experience and was previously a client director at Baillie Gifford. She will head up a team of 12 partners, senior consultants and consultants who provide investment advice to Hymans Robertson’s forty-two LGPS clients.

The moves are intended to strengthen the firm’s public sector team in advance of likely changes to public sector schemes in the wake of the Hutton Report.

Mr Wright said: "With the coming changes to public sector pensions it is more important than ever that schemes are prepared for and understand the impact of the reforms. Linda and Alison’s combined expertise will be hugely beneficial to our clients as we help them navigate this new era."
