Morris review of the actuarial profession – consultation document

As many of you will be aware, Sir Derek Morris has been asked to conduct a wide-ranging review of the actuarial profession. The terms of reference of the review are to: ‘Consider what professional and/or other regulatory framework would best promote recognised, high-quality and continuously developing actuarial standards, openness in the application of actuarial skills, transparency in the professional conduct of actuaries, accountability for their actions and an open and competitive market for actuarial advice in the UK.’

As part of the initial consultation process a consultation document has been released. Sir Derek’s review team has asked for responses by 10 September.

The SIAS Committee intends to consider the questions raised in the consultation document and to formulate a response on behalf of SIAS. To assist the committee we would appreciate your input into a survey that we are running.

The survey should take no longer that 20 minutes to complete and can be found at www.sias.org.uk/survey.
