Jim Ewing joins AEGON as chief actuary

AEGON UK has announced the appointment of Jim Ewing to the role of chief actuary.

He will be responsible for delivering the firm’s capital management requirements and managing its Solvency II programme, and will join the insurance executive committee.

Mr Ewing (pictured) joins from Lloyds Banking Group where, as Solvency II director, he led the Solvency II programme across the insurance business including life, general and international divisions. He has previously held senior roles at Scottish Widows, including head of actuarial operations, and has considerable experience of management through periods of industry change.

He will join AEGON in August reporting to Clare Bousfield, chief financial officer, AEGON UK. His appointment is subject to FSA approval.

Ms Bousfield said: "The actuarial team performs a crucial role in ensuring AEGON delivers against the organisation’s capital management and Solvency II requirements. Jim’s breadth of experience will be highly valuable in helping achieve this."
